History in the development of international ISM Code
In 1991, our Founder, the late Captain Graham Botterill, was appointed specialist advisor to the House Of Lords Select Committee on Science and Technology during a major enquiry into ship safety and design.
The Lords Select Committee recommended the adoption of Captain Botterill’s safety management principles for the shipping industry around the world.
Ferriby Marine was appointed to produce “The Guidelines on the Application of the IMO’s International Safety Management Code for the Safe Operation of Ships and Pollution Prevention”, still in use industry-wide today.
Helping ports, vessels & companies achieve compliance, since 1990
Ferriby’s experienced team of master mariners and specialists assist shipping firms and ports across the world with planning, training and auditing vessels, operations and staff to ensure international compliances are met.
By tailoring our operations to suit individual company requirements, we provide training courses to achieve effective compliance with these standards and codes, from ISO, ISM, ISPS and MLC, to Marine Order 504, Seacare HSR and more.
